Jingyue Lake Reservoir was Rewarded as one of The Fifth Group of National Irrigation Scenic Spots

In the 26th of October, the Jinyue Reservoir was praised as one of the fifth group of national irrigation scenic spots in the Construction and Management Conference of National Irrigation Scenic Spots.

The Jingyue Reservoir is located in the Jingyue tourist and economic development area, in the southeast part of Changchun City , and it is the core and soul of the whole scenic spot. It was firstly built in 1934 during the Puppet Manchu Dynasty, and finished in 1936. At that time, it was used as the water source of the special municipality ( Changchun City )—new capital of Puppet Manchu Dynasty. In order to conserve water resources, a plantation was built in the around hills, mainly including larches, camphor trees, Japanese black pine and other coniferous trees. Nowadays, it has become the biggest plantation in Asia . After 1949, the government attached great importance to this plantation, and protected the forest and water resources efficiently. The tourism began to appear and develop quickly.

In recent years, due to insisting to protective development principles and the reasonable management, the mountain, water and forest resources in the park are optimized and upgraded; the tourism develops quickly; the popularity and influence of the spot is increasing day after day, and it becomes a good place to spend leisure time and holidays and to keep fit. There people can go hiking on a spring day, prevent sunstroke in the summer, enjoy the red leaves in the autumn and enjoy the snow and ice in winter. The award by the national irrigation scenic spots builds a new platform for the further quick development of Jingyue Lake scenic spot.
